Geeking Around: Los Angeles - Downtown Disney

The Downtown Disney District is an outdoor shopping area adjacent to Disneyland and California Adventure Parks. It's a great place for dining, shopping, movie going, and people watching! Even if Disney isn't your thing, there's still plenty to see and do inside the Downtown Disney area. There are plans for an ice skating rink for Winter time!

My annual pass for Disneyland expired, so to get my "Disney fix" I make a stop down here on occasion. I recently met up with the lovely Wendy from Make It Pink for dinner and snapped some photos of geekery in the area!

Who: Downtown Disney
Where: Anaheim, CA
What: Disney's Outdoor Shopping Mall next to Disneyland
Why: Good atmosphere, lots to see, Disney magic!

First stop, Lego store! Check out Hulk and Gandalf in lego form. *O*
Mini-fig keychains anyone?

One of each please.

Moving onto Wonderground Gallery which is new to Downtown Disney. Come here to check out some amazing Disney character interpretations from some pretty well known artists! I wasn't expecting to see one of my favorite artists, J. Scott Campbell on display. What a pleasant surprise! He completed the Toy Story and The Incredibles pieces below.

One of the coolest stores in DTD is D-Street. If you collect those Vinylmation figures, this is THE spot to trade and check out the new releases. D-Street has some great apparel and art offerings too! Come here for tokidoki, Star Wars, and other cool merch.

Found this anime style Tinkerbell art at Disney Vault 28 which carries Tarina Tarantino jewelry, Betseyville, and fun wearables for women.

Last on our stop is of course The World of Disney store. This expansive store has everything Disney including snacks, plush, apparel, collectibles, and more. They've started carrying some Marvel toys too! Below are a few of my favorite items.

Stitch Star Wars style

Pretty awesome pin pack with old and new republic emblems.

Parking is free for up to the first three hours if I remember correctly. Some restaurants offer validation. Make sure to research the official site before you leave though! Also, if you're a AAA member there are discounts available in some stores. Just ask! The inventory is always changing in many of these shops and they host quite a few launches and events here. Your bound to leave with a slightly emptier wallet, haha.
